Councilor Ramos Proposes the Creation of Chinatown Center

Honorable Dindo Ramos, Councilor of Bacolod City, proposed a new ordinance that seeks to give rise to a Chinatown Center in Bacolod City and allocate at least 15 million pesos for its development, to recognize the contribution of the Filipino-Chinese community in the society.

Once approved, the said ordinance will seek for the creation of the Bacolod City Chinatown Development Council (BCCDC) to put together the rules and regulations, propose activities and regulate the operation, administration and the physical improvement of the Capitol Shopping Center which will be transformed to become the Bacolod City Chinatown Center (BCCC).

The ordinance will also attract the private sector to make investments through tax incentives for participating in government projects in the Chinatown Center. One can get as much as 70 percent tax refund which will be charged for future tax liabilities in the form of Tax Credit Certificate by making contributions for the creation of the BCCC.

Among others, the Capitol Shopping Center area needs more streetlights, a welcome arch, its drainage system declogged and roads widened and paved, which will be funded by the said initial budget as well as the private contributions.
